Student Counsellor

Sometimes the smallest moments in life end up changing everything.
For me, it was choosing Psychology as an elective in high school. At the time, I simply wanted to study something different, never imagining that one decision would shape the career I love today. As I began learning about human behaviour, emotions and the connection between the mind and body, I realised that understanding people went far beyond theories and textbooks. Every person carries a story, and every story deserves to be understood with curiosity, compassion and without judgment.
My journey has taken me across different parts of the world. I was born in India, raised in the Middle East, and now have the privilege of living and studying in Australia while completing my Master of Counselling degree. I also hold an Applied Psychology degree along with a Graduate Diploma in Counselling. Growing up across different cultures has taught me that there is no single “right” way to experience life. It has given me a deep appreciation for people’s unique backgrounds, beliefs, values and lived experiences, and reminds me that some of the greatest lessons come from just listening with an open mind.
Long before I became a counsellor, I found myself being the friend people naturally gravitated towards. Not because I always had the perfect advice, but because I genuinely enjoyed listening. Sometimes people do not need someone to solve their problems; they simply need someone who will sit with them, understand them and remind them that they do not have to carry everything on their own. Looking back, I realise those moments quietly shaped the counsellor I am becoming today. Beyond counselling, I also wear many hats. I am a daughter, an elder sister, a student, and a Student Wellbeing and Equity Ambassador at my university. Each of these roles has taught me something different about connection, responsibility, empathy, and the importance of showing up for others. They continue to shape not only who I am as a person, but also the counsellor I strive to be.
My counselling approach is grounded in person-centred therapy. I believe you are the expert in your own life. My role is not to tell you what to do or who you should become, but to walk alongside you as we explore your experiences together. Counselling is a collaborative process where we make sense of what feels overwhelming, reconnect with your strengths, and discover practical ways to move towards the life you want to create.
I enjoy working with people across all stages of life, including children, adolescents, adults, older adults and couples. I have a particular interest in supporting people through grief and loss, life transitions, relationship concerns, identity, stress, anxiety, self-esteem and personal growth. I also believe counselling isn’t only for times of crisis. Sometimes we reach a point where we want to understand ourselves better, strengthen our relationships, or grow into the person we know we can become. There is never a wrong time to invest in yourself.
One of the most meaningful moments in my journey as a counsellor was working with my very first client. It wasn’t about having all the right words or finding the perfect intervention. It was witnessing their growth, seeing hope slowly replace uncertainty, and recognising the quiet strength that had been within them all along. That experience reminded me why I chose this profession. There is something incredibly humbling about being invited into someone’s story and trusted to walk alongside them, even for a small part of their journey.
I strongly believe that where there is willingness, there is possibility. Healing does not always happen in big, dramatic moments. More often, it happens through small conversations, gentle reflections and the courage to keep showing up for yourself. Some days, life feels exciting and full of purpose. Other days, it feels heavy and uncertain. Both are part of being human.
Wherever you find yourself in life right now, you do not have to have everything figured out before reaching out. My hope is that when you walk into the counselling room, you feel more than just welcomed. I hope you feel heard, seen, soothed and safe. I hope you feel free to laugh, cry, question, reflect or sit in silence without feeling judged. Together, we can build on your strengths, develop resilience, strengthen your confidence and relationships, and create meaningful change at a pace that feels right for you. Every journey begins with a single step, and sometimes the smallest chapters become the most meaningful. I would be honoured to be a small part of your journey as we work together towards greater understanding, healing, and growth.
